What is an anal fistula ?

An anal fistula is a tunnel that connects an opening of the skin around the anus to an infected gland in the anus.

It most often occurs due to clogged anal glands or clogged abscesses,and injury in or around the anus.

The most common symptoms are pain , swelling and pus dischargedaround the anus and small boil beside the anus or small boil occursfrequently. It may also result in painful bowel movements and bleeding from the anus.
